Welcome to Caltech. I can imagine that this is an exciting time in your life: having already demonstrated excellence in research, you are now immersed in it at a deep level. Caltech is a unique place, and you and your fellow scholars are a vital part of this vibrant community. So I wish you all the best for a productive and enjoyable stay at the Institute.
While research is your primary focus, I encourage you to participate in the many social and academic events across campus. Caltech offers a number of resources that can enrich your personal and professional experience, and also help you navigate through any challenges you may face. The Caltech Postdoctoral Association also organizes a number of activities for postdoctoral scholars. The monthly `Coffee at Caltech' is a good place to meet representatives from various campus organizations.
Please do not hesitate to contact Stacie Takase at the postdoctoral scholars' office, the postdoctoral specialists within your divisional office, the faculty representative for postdoctoral affairs within your academic unit or me if we can help in any way.
Wishing you all the best in your academic and personal endeavors, Kaushik Bhattacharya Howell N. Tyson, Sr., Professor of Mechanics and Materials Science; Vice Provost
